Hello Feral Writers!
Welcome to a new month of FerUnWriMo, where the rules are made up and all goals are good goals. We don't believe in goal gatekeeping here a FerUnWriMo so whether your monthly goal is 100K words, 25K words, 10 words, or just "write something without feeling a crushing sense of despair", IT'S ALL GOOD!
[Side note: my lapop has decided that "t" is a SOMEIMES letter & it seems to be much worse when I type in Dreamwidth, so if somehing I ype doesn't make sense, just add a t.)
Trackbear Monthly Leaderboard
I'm sorry this post is a day late but the great thing about Trackbear is no matter when you join a leaderboard, any progress you've been logging on Trackbear will show up on that leaderboard when you join it!
Here's October's join code: 1505e3a7-e561-4d9d-930a-d2ac7389f206
Preptober
October is also sometimes known as Preptober, for folks who participate in Nanowrimo -- while I realize a lot of people here are probably not doing Nano anymore, that doesn't stop us from doing our own thing in November!
Especially for those of us who have done Nano for so many years the momentum kind of makes it feel weird NOT to have some sort of unhinged goal for November (hi, it's me). Apparently my brain is so used to starting a new novel in November it now generates ideas in September (so, yeah, I'm starting a new project next month).
I'm not doing Nano (obviously, it's why I started this thing!), but I will be joining in Sarra Cannon's Rough Draft Challenge (which I posted about here in September) with a goal of 50K. I am definitely using October as Preptober so I'm ready to dive into my new story Nov. 1st.
(BTW, much like Sarra, I take a non-judgmental view regarding other people & if they choose to participate in Nano or not. While I started FerUnWriMo because I no longer wanted to take part in Nanowrimo even a little bit (though I'd been only sort-of officially paricipating for years by the time last year rolled around), I do mean it when I say FerUnWriMo is compatible with all other writing challenges. If you still do Nano you get no judgment from me. My main concern is that we all get our stuff written--however that works best for us. & I don't get to say what works best for another writer.)
October Goals & Intros
What are your plans for this month? Will you be doing something like the Rough Draft Challenge in November and using October as Preptober? Or is it just a normal (if spOoOoOky) month?
Feel free to post a comment introducing yourself (if you like) & telling us your plans for this month!

My word count goal is around 10K; I'll likely surpass that but I'm not pushing myself this month because I'm reserving my energy for November. I'm aiming for those words to all be on Star of Ixchel, book 2 in my series that's getting relaunched (I did minor text updates to book 1, but book 2 needed a complete rewrite so that's what I've been working on since July).
However, October will ALSO be Preptober for me, because I am starting a completely new story in November. I got hit with mega-inspiration last month after my husband made me watch a 1980s fantasy movie I'd never seen before, & started writing a book in my head. It's still mostly in my head but I've got a notebook with some stuff jotted down, and today I'll be downloading and printing Sarra Cannon's Preptober workbook.
I've got a lot of worldbuilding, plotting, and character work to do before I can start writing! I am so excited to do so because these characters are TALKATIVE, lol.
